It’s officially fall and, to kick of the season, two top-rated breweries in New Mexico released autumn brews onto the public.
The air is starting to bite in the evening and packing a light jacket is probably a good idea for those chilly nights. Craft beer in the autumn season takes a dramatic turn from the light and crisp summer flavors. The chilly weather queues the warm malty side of craft beer in New Mexico.
Marble Brewery and La Cumbre Brewing Company are staples in the local craft brewery scene in New Mexico. Both are well-known for their robust and delicious beer recipes and both satisfy this year’s craving for warmth in autumn flavors.
La Cumbre’s Oktoberfest Lager
Admittedly, summer has come to an end again and, the idea of fall beers excites the senses. La Cumbre released its Oktoberfest Lager in late August and, as Oktoberfest Lagers go, this malty brew is impressive. Combining a rich toastiness with a nice spiced hop gives this traditionally brewed Bavarian lager a leg-up on the national stage of Oktoberfest beers. From the moment it hits your lips, this lager will have you pining for a New Mexico autumn season. The flavors run deep. Where others fall thin and watery, La Cumbre’s Oktoberfest proves to be a full flavored, toasty and caramely delight. With an ABV of 6.2 percent, this autumn lager gives a nice buzz.
Marble’s Pumpkin Noir
This beer is a must have for you pumpkin stout lovers. When the Pumpkin Noir is released, you know that it’s time to get ready for Halloween. This beer is a Grey Wolf top pick for fall! It is rich and thick and filled with the feelings of fall. The spices come through just right to match the chocolaty-notes that encompass this witchy stout. It’s not as viscous as some fall stouts, which plays to its strengths. The drinkability is moderate on account of the richness and high alcohol level. For us, the nostalgia factor is what makes this brew a winner. Every year that this beer is released, we are reminded that New Mexico is a top-rated state for craft beer. Not to mention the label art is dope!
